Beta Testing – and it’s Importance

Why Beta Testing is Important:

Through the use of beta testing, there would be lesser bugs throughout most applications. In testing and investigating the applications, the quality of the apps would be under tested. If the quality of a software application would not pass the standards of a company, then it would be sent back to the development team. Through the use of beta applications, developers would be able to know the glitches in their games as well as with their software. They would know if there would be any problems with their products through the use of beta testing. Usually, applications which are sent back to the developer would be reprogrammed and resent to the tester. If the reprogrammed application would pass the standards, then the developers would give a version number for the program. That is why most of the software which would be brought to the market would have a version number.

Aside from testing for bugs and glitches, another responsibility of a tester is to check for the compatibility of the product. In iPhone applications, there would be the interface between the LCD screen and a program. In gaming consoles, there would be the controls between the game and the console. In terms of the internet, there is the World Wide Web consortium or W3 which would be the one to set the standard in websites. Through the use of beta testing, all types of applications, programs and websites would be able to pass the standards provided by various groups and consoles.
